The filmmakers used what they already had on hand
Tale
After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to the quaint town of Miles County, where he preys on a teenage girl and her little brother on Halloween night. Scenes shot in the haunted house in "Terrifier" were filmed in a real haunted house called the Fright Factory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Art’s favorite acid is fluoroantimonic acid, which he keeps in a clear glass bottle. It is a superacid that can dissolve even glass.
Art the Clown:
There is a mid-credits scene in a psychiatric hospital with Chris Jericho as security guard Alan Burke and Leah Voysey as the nurse. The German DVD and Blu-ray releases from Tiberius Film are trimmed by about three minutes to ensure a "No Under 18" experience. (This was necessary because the guidelines for video releases are more stringent than the theatrical ones.) Basically, all the violent scenes have been cut to tone down the violence. The Mediabook 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray releases from Nameless Media are completely uncut and have received a mild SPIO/JK approval.

The Equalizer (Not Alone) Written by Tim McEwan and Tyler Lyle (as Jamison Tyler Lyle) Performed by The Midnight Courtesy of BMG Platinum Songs U.S. (BMI). Like the original, ‘Terifier 2’ is a tasty treat for fans of extreme gore and ’80s horror throwbacks. It marches unapologetically to its own beat, walking the line between irony and exploitation.
Some have proclaimed Art the Clown to be this generation’s “Freddy” Terrifier 2 also benefits from a fun supporting cast and a strong lead
And beyond the disgusting practical effects (taken to the next level), it has what most genre offerings have been missing lately: a wicked sense of humor. The teenage leads, while obviously disposable, are less cloying than in many modern horror films, and I was legitimately shocked when some of them met their very, very grisly ends. The film shifts gears at the 2-hour mark, introducing a new plot development that proves to be a real puzzle and may test the patience of some viewers (but I’m sure Leone has his reasons and it will be worth it). Thankfully, the film establishes an internal logic early on, so that when the film goes into full-on surreal mode, viewers are more willing to suspend their disbelief.
The tone is less “Hostel” and more “Evil Dead” or “Troma Films” in my opinion
Minor quibbles aside, Terrifier 2 delivers and would make an ideal midnight double feature with its predecessor. I suspect everyone involved in the production had a lot of fun making it and its target audience will too.*****Final note: If you’re worried that the gore factor might be too much to handle, I will say that the kills are equally extreme and over-the-top films that often feel more suited to a cult comedy/horror than standard torture porn.
