It’s a pretty perfect modern adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s book
That’s almost a compliment, and it’s entirely due to the stellar cast & sometimes written cracking. That being said, writing-wise, the dialogue gets significantly more complex around the episode 5 mark.
Good laughs and a nice break from heavy crime dramas, but not a classic
I don’t know if it’s a writer change or a writing team running dry alongside a fairly ambitious production, but it’s confusing. But like all of Cooper’s work in any form, it was Tonally always close to soap, and the fact that it’s mostly not is truly impressive, but it IS funny.
